Protecting Your Concrete for Winter: It's Worth The Read.

Image
Winter can be a challenging season for homeowners, especially when it comes to maintaining concrete surfaces. The freezing temperatures and fluctuating weather conditions can wreak havoc on driveways, walkways, and patios, leading to costly repairs if not properly managed. In this guide, we'll walk you through how to effectively prepare your concrete for winter, ensuring it remains intact and aesthetically appealing throughout the season. Understanding Winter Hazards for Concrete Concrete is a durable material, but its porosity makes it vulnerable to the freeze-thaw cycles common in many regions. When water seeps into the concrete and freezes, it expands, potentially causing cracks and surface damage. Additionally, snow and ice can lead to scaling—where thin layers peel off the surface—and spalling, which involves larger flakes of concrete breaking away. Understanding these risks is the first step in safeguarding your surfaces. Key Steps to Prepare Your Concrete for Winter Step 1

The Many Benefits Of Stamped Concrete

Concrete contractors have specialized training and specialized experience that enables them to handle concrete all over the world. A concrete contractor is highly skilled and experienced individuals who are able to manage concrete at various stages starting from the initial concrete mix to the hardened foundation. Licensed concrete contractors are able to create intricate architectural designs and patterns with their superb knowledge and skill in this industry. There are different types of concrete contractors including general contractors, stamped concrete contractors, decorative concrete contractors, facade contractors and custom concrete contractors. General contractors are individuals who work on a large scale. They are hired by large construction projects that require concrete contractors on a short-term basis. General contractors normally handle the skeleton of a building project from conception to completion. The tasks include site investigations to survey, analysis, design

We hear that our prices are "on the high side" or "you are the highest priced contractors we have talked to so far". The fact of that matter is that Denver Concrete Inc provides a high quality product with a real warranty. This makes our company the highest bid in most cases. With this in mind, our pricing and services are not for everyone. We realize that not every project is a " Denver Concrete Inc " project. This colored concrete driveway was completed by Denver Concrete Inc in early 2021. Manage Your Own Concrete Driveway Project In this post we go over what to look for in your own concrete driveway project so that you have the ability to "manage" your own concrete driveway replacement project . We should begin with explaining how important it is to maintain patience with your hired crew during the entire process. Many homeowners that are managing their very own concrete project for the first time tend to be a little on "edge". Rela

Is My Colored Concrete Really Colored?

Image
Integral Color Vs. Surface Color Above, you will notice that this just looks like a chunk of broken concrete. If you look a little closer, you will see the surface of this concrete is colored different from the underlying concrete. In this case, a color hardner was applied to the concrete.  Well, if your concrete looks colored, it more than likely is. So, why this post? We wanted to discuss the difference in color when designing your new stamped concrete patio, walkway or driveway. There are many options to consider when thinking about or considering a new colored, stamped concrete install. We cover many options on our site about stamped and decorative concrete . But... we are still working on it. That's exactly why we decided to cover this particular subject. It seems that many times when our estimators are out in the field, they even have a tough time determining whether they are looking at integral colored concrete or concrete that has been colored with a hardener. Additionally,

Denver Heated Driveway

Denver Concrete Inc has partnered with Warmly Yours for electric heated driveways. We have yet to complete our entire video of this project from start to finish; however, we are working on it. In the meantime, we thought we would at least post on the project until the video is complete. Until then... Above, Denver Concrete Inc crew begins the project with demolition of the existing concrete driveway. Heated Concrete Driveway Project Denver Concrete Inc We were contacted by a homeowner right around the beginning of 2021 regarding a heated concrete driveway estimate. Heated concrete driveways are not a common thing, even in Denver. They are quite the investment and sometimes they cannot even be installed (due to restrictions with electrical). So each one of these projects has to be researched and planned for the best execution. With a heated driveway, there are a couple of different types of systems. For this project we elected to work with Warmly Yours. Why Warmly Yours? Warmly Yours He

Can You Pour Concrete In Freezing Conditions?

Pouring Concrete During Freezing Temperatures ABOVE, Castle Pines concrete driveway replacement from Denver Concrete Inc When March of 2020 happened, we did not know it, but we were about to begin the busiest season that Denver Concrete Inc has ever known. We are a newer company (although we are not new to concrete with over 50 years of combined experience), so this is our second "busy" season. Regardless, we could have never prepared for the onslaught of business that was about to come our way.  Busy season has definitely not stopped. Our crews are still as busy as they were in the height of busy season. We know that many concrete contractors start to slow down in the fall and winter, however, this is one of the best times to pour concrete in Colorado. Like many concrete contractors, Denver Concrete Inc does not pour in freezing temperatures so for this reason winter is not ideal some of the time.  The 2020 busy season has officially come to a close and we definitely had a f

Commerce City Stamped Concrete Sidewalk / Patio Resstoration

ABOVE, Homeowner's stamped concrete walkway is entirely broken with tripping hazards of 1" - 4". In this particular case, our customer was trying to list their home for sale and liquidate as fast as possible. The homeowner's real estate agent strongly recommended repairing the broken and heaving concrete sidewalk. Not only was the sidewalk presenting a liability, but it would definitely provide some hesitation to potential buyers. Most potential homeowners do not want close on a new home only to inherit issues.  We have created a mini-site documenting the entire case, you can visit the site here . There we have created an entire case for this project.  If you have stamped concrete that needs to be replaced, repaired or rejuvenated, make sure to give one of the concrete experts at Denver Concrete Inc a phone call (303) 622-3191. A complete video of the project can be viewed below.
